Enjoy your Royal Wedding Weekend on the Snow

LONDON, 21 April 2011 – While Kate Middleton and Prince William leave for their honeymoon the day after the Royal Wedding, you can spend your weekend on real snow for only £10! The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead will have a Family Fun Weekend on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May with massive discounts on lift passes and lessons for all abilities.

To help families make the most of the extra-long May Day weekend, The Snow Centre offers 45 minute group lessons for only £15 for adults and £12.50 for everyone under 17 on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May 2011 from 9am to 4.30pm. The group lessons are perfect for all abilities, from the beginner just giving it a go to the experienced skier or snowboarder who is looking for a few extra tips. Guests of a recreational standard can also book a 1 hour Recreational Lift Pass for only £10 on these dates.

If you book a 45 minute Group Taster Lesson or a promotional Recreational Lift Pass during the Family Fun Weekend, you will also receive 20% discount on your next 1.5 hour Adult Group Lesson, 1 hour Junior Group Lesson or Recreational Lift Pass before 31st August 2011.

Photo shoot @The Snow Centre

Photographer Richard Washbrooke has aimed his lens at the state-of-the-art architecture and the perfect slopes of The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead. The resulting photo library will be used to revamp their leaflets.

Washbrooke, who is a professional sports, travel and architecture photographer, visited The Snow Centre last Thursday. As it was a nice day outside, it was the perfect opportunity to shoot some pictures showing off the impressive environmental design of the building. The Snow Centre was highly commended at the Hertfordshire Building Futures Awards because it features one of the largest grass roofs in the country, which provides insulation as well as a means of collecting rain water. Washbrooke also took some action shots on the 8,000m2 of real snow, ranging from dynamic advanced skiers to beginners lessons. Washbrooke’s photos will be used to create a whole new set of leaflets for The Snow Centre. Previously, they had one generic product and price leaflet that contained everything customers need to know. This time, they are moving down a slightly different path, allowing visitors to pick up only those bits of information that are relevant for them. There will be separate leaflets about lift passes and lessons, freestyle nights and fun activities. There will also be a leaflet for people who are new to snowsports.

Though the climate inside The Snow Centre is very stable – it snows most nights and the temperature is between -1.5°C and -6°C all year round – they still divide the year in two seasons: winter (1st October – 30th April) and summer (1st May – 1st October). The difference between the two seasons is that they have to offer different products in order to adapt to the seasonality of the rest of the industry. There is a similar array of snowsports lessons/sessions available, but during the summer there will be even more fun activities in the snow for kids of all ages plus exciting days out for corporate groups. These activities will also have their own leaflets with Washbrooke’s refreshing pictures.
