Keep Your Head and Feet in the Game with SportsDirect.com

Score! According to FIFA there are 265 million people who play the world’s number one sport. So you have the physical ability and ball sense to play Football, but do you have the game intelligence? Is your head mightier than the football boots at your feet?

Originally considered to be an impossible component to measure, a new study conducted has claimed that game intelligence isn’t a mind field but can in fact be measured. Game intelligence is the
ability to “read” the play such as being in the right place at the right time. The scientists at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden have assigned game intelligence to executive functions which includes mental processes such as planning and problem solving. The study that will be published in PLoS ONE, an online scientific journal, found that 57 elite footballers performed better in the executive function tests than the general population. The academics also found that the higher ranked footballers performed better in the executive function tests. The scientists are now hoping to study whether the executive functions can be improved by training. Tackle your Football with our football boots.

Great New for Football Boot Manufacturers – Keep the Technology Coming!

(but make sure the classics are available too!)

As football boots become more sophisticated, brightly coloured and technologically advanced, many players have begun endorsing and creating their own designs (a prime example being Cristiano Ronaldo and his CTR7 range for Nike). The sheer amount of choice that football boot manufacturers offer in the modern age of football is enough to leave buyers with a confusing headache after asking themselves… “Do I choose modern or classic boots?”

SportsDirect.com, the UK’s leading online sports retailer asked the public which type of football boots they preferred – the brand new modern technology with the ability to read your skills and improve your game, or the classic, leather design which lace up and stick in the grass when you need them too. The response showed that it’s a very close call between new and old style boots, with 51.4% of those asked preferring modern technology to the 48.6% who are sticking to their old school guns (results courtesy of Survey Monkey 17/02/12).

Classics are classic for a reason, Facebook and Twitter fans of SportsDirect.com were asked for their opinion and some expressed not only their preference, but why they loved their boots. One fan simply stated ‘Puma King Classics, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. Customers also pointed out that in some cases, boots with modern technology come cheaper and that the younger generation preferred the new technology, perhaps encouraging their decision to choose a more modern boot given the current economic climate.
