Bruntwood transforms Leeds office building into Premier Inn

Landmark Leeds building Hepworth Point has been turned into a new Premier Inn hotel by commercial space provider Bruntwood, boasting 131 bedrooms and creating 40 new jobs. The new hotel is now open to the public, a year ahead of the new Leeds Arena in 2013.

The developments are located close to each other on the north side of Leeds city centre and provide an answer to public calls for the creation of new entertainment and leisure facilities. The new Premier Inn is situated on Clay Pit Lane and stands 10 storeys high.

Once open, Leeds Arena will have a capacity of 13,500 and will be graced by sports events, music and comedy shows and attractions for families – attendees of which will benefit from the additional accommodation choice provided by office spacespecialist Bruntwood.

Craig Burrow, Bruntwood’s director of Leeds, said: “Bruntwood are delighted to have completed the conversion of Hepworth Point in Leeds and to welcome Premier Inn as a customer. We’re now looking for further opportunities within Leeds to expand our core offering, as our customers continue to respond positively to the Bruntwood way of doing business here.”

WSB Property Consultants LLP, who handled the deal, commented that the building’s location has made it a star player in Premier Inn’s portfolio of hotels, while Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants – the parent company of Premier Inn – noted that it is ideally located for access to the city centre and university, as well as the new arena. The company’s focus is on quality and value and they are convinced that the new venue will deliver on both counts.

Premier Inn hopes to increase its current UK count of 47,000 bedrooms to 65,000 by 2016.

Bruntwood also offers conference rooms which Leeds businesses can use for training events and high-profile meetings, alongside facilities as diverse as virtual office services and full office suites.

Jenny Craig Launches New Ambassadors: Dame Edna & Barry Humphries!

National Treasure Dame Edna Everage and her adoring manager Barry Humphries get serious about their health and pledge to shed 33lbs each with JENNY CRAIG and their healthy diet plans.  With the megastar and her manager about to embark on their farewell tour, Edna states the dramatic change is necessary in the interests of their health and, as role models, the health of their public.

Jenny Craig Launches New Ambassadors: Dame Edna & Barry Humphries!

“Possums, Barry and I both appreciate the influence we have over our adoring public.  Just like the Beckhams, people follow and copy our every move.  And lately, well let’s be brutally honest, we’ve let ourselves go and haven’t been good role models.  I have a wardrobe full of breathtaking gowns but I have to hold my breath to wear them …only three gowns fit me these days.  When I’m on stage, I have to suck in my tummy because I fear my dress will burst at the seams.  Just like my dear friend Mel B, I’m hoping to get my pre-baby body back!   While that was many years ago the outcome should be the same with the help of JENNY CRAIG

“I’ve always had a nice little double chin, but recently it’s turned into a quadruple chin.  I want to live a long time and I am ready for JENNY CRAIG,” said Edna.

Barry Humphries also worries about Edna’s weight.  “We were in London recently and Edna’s looks were savaged by one critic in particular who described her as rather ‘tubby’.  Well, that was a wake up call for both of us, especially with our so-called “farewell” tour, ‘Eat, Pray, Laugh’, about to start in June.

“We want everyone to rally behind us on Jenny’s ‘Edna Forever’ campaign.  Edna is a legend; she deserves the very best.  We may be approaching our early twilight years – or as I like to call them, our ‘after lunch years’ – but Edna has some sage advice to impart regardless of your age,” said Mr Humphries.

Barry also admits he has his own problems with food and will be supporting Edna and encouraging all men to think about their health.

I have a problem with food and I’m not ashamed to admit it.  Don’t forget, you can get help.  There’s no shame in a man getting help.  It’s a shame if you don’t!“

Airport Parking and Hotels (APH.com) Updates Low Cost Airline Extra Charges Research

Sussex, UK (24th April, 2012) – With many of the low-cost airlines introducing new ‘booking’ fees during 2012, Airport Parking and Hotels (www.aph.com) has updated their extra charges research to help travellers plan ahead and keep travel costs to a minimum. The research is available in the Know Before You Go section of the website at www.aph.com/lowcostextracharges.

The research compares the extra charges imposed by budget airlines flying from UK airports, including checking-in fees, excess baggage fees, credit card charges, seat reservation charges and costs for cancelling or making changes to the flight.

With regards to checking-in, most airlines were found to offer free online check-in apart from Jet2.com which charges £1.00 per flight and Ryanair, which charges £6.00 per person, per one way flight. If checking-in at the airport or through a call-centre, then the cost was found to vary with Jet2.com charging a fee of £6.00 per flight, BMI Baby charging £11.00 per person, per flight and Ryanair charging £12.00 per person, per flight. Passengers flying with Ryanair should be careful when checking-in online, however, as if customers forget to bring their printed boarding pass, then Ryanair will issue a ‘boarding pass reissue penalty’ fee of £40 per person, per one way flight.

Most airlines were also found to include an ‘admin fee’ with easy Jet replacing its booking fee earlier this year, with a £9.00 administration fee for every booking. BMI Baby, however, charges £8.00 per passenger for online bookings and £11.00 at the airport or through a call centre. Ryanair do not charge anything for online bookings but £20.00 per passenger, per one way flight when booked at the airport or through a call centre, adding £40.00 to each booking.

Costs for checked-in baggage were also found to vary greatly, with Ryanair announcing an increase in their fees during 2012. During the peak periods of June, July, August, September and Christmas in 2012, the airline will increase its checked-in baggage fee from £20 to £25 per bag for all online bookings. Customers checking-in two bags of 15kg from June to September will be charged £50 per bag.

Some of the airlines have also now introduced a fee for reserving seats with Jet2.com charging from £2.49 per flight, Ryanair charging £10.00 one way and BMI Baby £11.00 per person, per one way flight when paid for at the airport or through a call centre. Extra legroom seats are also now available, ranging from £3 to £25 depending on which seat is chosen.
