If you’re ready to perfect your footballing skills, then get ready for the 1st June with SportsDirect.com. You can now pre-order the new Adidas Predator LZ TRX football boots from the UK’s leading sportswear retailer. The latest predators are available for both adults and kids from just £23.99 online.

The newly-engineered boot is lighter and more deadly than ever with specialist rubber technology integration to help with ball control. Not only that, but the new ‘zones’ serve different skill purposes so you can excel in every move. The ‘drive’ zone of the football boot creates a rebound effect, ideal for reaching longer distances with extra power behind the ball.

For greater control and ball contact, there are the ‘first touch’ and ‘dribble’ zones which are designed specifically to increase contact time to enhance passing, receiving and dribbling skills. Finally, there’s the ‘sweet sport’ zone, designed to gain a faster pace whilst you’re on the ball. All this and the boot still only weigh in at 225 grams!

These fantastic football boots are also available with the Adidas miCoach integration. The intelligent speed cell fits perfectly in to the boot so you can then record and share your personal game stats, ideal if you’re training for a big match!

You can also personalise your boots at SportsDirect.com with the MYiD technology, simply choose a number, initials or slogan and add them to your basket. You can pre-order the boots now online at www.sportsdirect.com! Keep up with the latest offers and product releases on the official Facebook and Twitter pages too!

When it comes to travelling, packing can be the most stressful part of the preparation process. Distinguishing essentials from luxuries, catering for every weather event, plus making sure there’s enough room in the case for gifts on the way back! To avoid any extra stress when going on a holiday, business trip or overnight visit, leading suitcases retailer SportsDirect.com set about a mission to find the best suitcase packing method.

After conducting an online survey, the UK’s travellers decided that overall, folding was the most popular packing method with a huge 64% of the vote- allowing holiday goers to organise travel items into neat piles.

Whilst folding maybe the neatest and most organised packing method, some argued that it wasn’t the most space savvy; 29% of those asked favoured to roll their clothes up before packing to make the most of suitcase space and the help avoid the dreaded creases once arriving at their destination.

Other methods were suggested, including packing all items in to vacuum bags to save space and unnecessary ironing. A small percentage of those who took the survey (6.9%) even decided that packing was not a priority and it was much easier to ‘Throw it all in and hope for the best’!

If you are travelling abroad or around the UK this year, don’t forget you can get web exclusive deals on selected suitcases and luggage items, including family sets over at www.sportsdirect.com. You can also join the conversation and let us know how you pack your suitcase on the official Facebook and Twitter pages.

Sussex-based Vent-Axia, a leader in low carbon technology, is celebrating winning the Air Movement Product of Year category in this year’s prestigious H&V News Awards. Scooping the industry award for its revolutionary Lo-Carbon Tempra, the company received the accolade at an awards ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. Attended by over 1,000 influential heating and ventilation specialists from across the whole supply chain the event was hosted by TV stand-up comedian and writer Simon Evans.

The H&V News Awards recognises and rewards the achievements of the UK’s diverse heating and ventilating sector with the winners selected by an expert panel of judges. After a rigorous judging process, Vent-Axia won the award for Air Movement Product of the Year for its pioneering Lo-Carbon Tempra single room heat recovery unit which offers the benefits of both continuous ventilation and heat recovery.

Part of the company’s innovative Lo-Carbon™ initiative, Vent-Axia’s revolutionary Lo-Carbon Tempra is the UK’s first single room heat recovery unit which can be simply retrofitted through a 100mm diameter hole in the wall. This allows standard traditional inefficient extract fans to be easily replaced with this discreet, low energy, continuously running alternative that also offers affordable heat recovery.

Lee Nurse, Marketing Director at Vent-Axia, commented: “We are very proud to have been acknowledged for our pioneering Lo-Carbon Tempra. Britain has the oldest housing stock in the developed World with 8.5 million properties over 60 years old therefore offering significant opportunities to improve indoor air quality and building performance while cutting carbon emissions. Single room heat recovery makes heat recovery more accessible and affordable for existing homes and so offers huge potential carbon reductions.”

Providing up to 80% heat recovery, the Tempra is the only unit of its type which can be retrofitted through a 100mm diameter hole in the wall. This enables standard bathroom, kitchen, toilet or utility room fans to be easily changed for a Tempra without the need to make the hole any larger, saving substantially on installation time and cost.

Central to the Tempra’s compact footprint required to fit in a 100mm diameter hole is its double wheel motorised impellers. The innovative technology allows for just one motor to be used with an extended shaft to drive two impellers to achieve double flow requirements, resulting in a very energy efficient solution. The unit’s performance, taken together with Tempra’s integral Lo-Carbon™ DC motor, brings significant energy savings and will help reduce a home’s carbon footprint.

Discreet and quiet in operation, Tempra can be set to run continuously at 6 l/s or 9 l/s, boosting up to 13 l/s if required. For intermittent extract applications, the unit can be set to operate at 15 l/s. It also incorporates a manual summer setting to ensure that when it is warm outside, it operates on extract only. This eliminates the risk of the home overheating in hot summer weather.

The Tempra is part of Vent-Axia’s Lo-Carbon™ collection. The aim of the Lo-Carbon initiative is to offer the latest low carbon ventilation technology in order to reduce building energy consumption and so carbon emissions. For further information on all products and services offered by Vent-Axia telephone 0844 856 0590.

We may be in the middle of a recession, but a new survey* has revealed that us Brits are as self-serving as ever, with one in ten admitting to becoming more selfish since the downturn first bit five years ago.

The study found that almost one in five Brits are more concerned with looking after number one when it comes to their eating habits in particular. Nearly a quarter of those surveyed confessed to never sharing food with friends or family members, with more than a third blaming this on ever-soaring food prices.

Those aged 18-24 were found to be the worst culprits when it comes to putting themselves first – one in ten admitted to always nabbing the larger piece when sharing food, with a small percentage even going to extreme lengths such as eating in private to avoid sharing in the first place.

Nevertheless, Fudges, who commissioned the research exposing the selfish traits of modern Britain, is backing the camp of Brits who remain steadfast in their generosity, and claim to still share food at least once a week despite the tightening grip of the recession. The Dorset-based biscuit makers is launching a campaign designed to encourage even the most miserable amongst us to spend more time with friends and family by breaking a biccie. This is kicking off with the launch of a limited-edition biscuit ‘sharing tin’ later this year.

“I always think of Britain as a nation of sharers so it’s surprising to think that the reality is we’re just getting more selfish. The tradition of ‘breaking bread’ goes back thousands of years and is a way of expressing how the simple act of sharing food brings people together. Our campaign is designed to remind Britain to do just that… but, of course, with a biscuit,” said Steve Fudge, Managing Director of Fudges.

Pitting the nation against one another, the survey found that people in Wales are the least generous with their food, with one in three revealing that they never share a meal with friends or family either in or out of the home. Conversely, those in London and Northern Ireland are the nation’s biggest sharers, with more than two thirds sharing food at least once a week.

Meanwhile, while women did emerge as the more generous of the sexes, one in four confessed to feeling angry when people assume they can take things off their plate, compared to just one in three men.

- ends -

*Research commissioned on behalf of Fudges by OnePoll (March 2012) 2,000 UK adults

Notes to editors:

• Fudges was founded by Percy Fudge in 1926 and the family has worked hard to preserve his legacy, adapting his award-winning savoury and sweet biscuits, delicious luxury cakes and indulgent treats to suit today’s discerning tastes.
• Fudges’ range of sweet and savoury biscuits, cakes and flatbreads is available from most major supermarkets, delis and farm shops.

Landmark Leeds building Hepworth Point has been turned into a new Premier Inn hotel by commercial space provider Bruntwood, boasting 131 bedrooms and creating 40 new jobs. The new hotel is now open to the public, a year ahead of the new Leeds Arena in 2013.

The developments are located close to each other on the north side of Leeds city centre and provide an answer to public calls for the creation of new entertainment and leisure facilities. The new Premier Inn is situated on Clay Pit Lane and stands 10 storeys high.

Once open, Leeds Arena will have a capacity of 13,500 and will be graced by sports events, music and comedy shows and attractions for families – attendees of which will benefit from the additional accommodation choice provided by office spacespecialist Bruntwood.

Craig Burrow, Bruntwood’s director of Leeds, said: “Bruntwood are delighted to have completed the conversion of Hepworth Point in Leeds and to welcome Premier Inn as a customer. We’re now looking for further opportunities within Leeds to expand our core offering, as our customers continue to respond positively to the Bruntwood way of doing business here.”

WSB Property Consultants LLP, who handled the deal, commented that the building’s location has made it a star player in Premier Inn’s portfolio of hotels, while Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants – the parent company of Premier Inn – noted that it is ideally located for access to the city centre and university, as well as the new arena. The company’s focus is on quality and value and they are convinced that the new venue will deliver on both counts.

Premier Inn hopes to increase its current UK count of 47,000 bedrooms to 65,000 by 2016.

Bruntwood also offers conference rooms which Leeds businesses can use for training events and high-profile meetings, alongside facilities as diverse as virtual office services and full office suites.

National Treasure Dame Edna Everage and her adoring manager Barry Humphries get serious about their health and pledge to shed 33lbs each with JENNY CRAIG and their healthy diet plans. With the megastar and her manager about to embark on their farewell tour, Edna states the dramatic change is necessary in the interests of their health and, as role models, the health of their public.

Jenny Craig Launches New Ambassadors: Dame Edna & Barry Humphries!

“Possums, Barry and I both appreciate the influence we have over our adoring public. Just like the Beckhams, people follow and copy our every move. And lately, well let’s be brutally honest, we’ve let ourselves go and haven’t been good role models. I have a wardrobe full of breathtaking gowns but I have to hold my breath to wear them …only three gowns fit me these days. When I’m on stage, I have to suck in my tummy because I fear my dress will burst at the seams. Just like my dear friend Mel B, I’m hoping to get my pre-baby body back! While that was many years ago the outcome should be the same with the help of JENNY CRAIG.

“I’ve always had a nice little double chin, but recently it’s turned into a quadruple chin. I want to live a long time and I am ready for JENNY CRAIG,” said Edna.

Barry Humphries also worries about Edna’s weight. “We were in London recently and Edna’s looks were savaged by one critic in particular who described her as rather ‘tubby’. Well, that was a wake up call for both of us, especially with our so-called “farewell” tour, ‘Eat, Pray, Laugh’, about to start in June.

“We want everyone to rally behind us on Jenny’s ‘Edna Forever’ campaign. Edna is a legend; she deserves the very best. We may be approaching our early twilight years – or as I like to call them, our ‘after lunch years’ – but Edna has some sage advice to impart regardless of your age,” said Mr Humphries.

Barry also admits he has his own problems with food and will be supporting Edna and encouraging all men to think about their health.

“I have a problem with food and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Don’t forget, you can get help. There’s no shame in a man getting help. It’s a shame if you don’t!“

Sussex, UK (24th April, 2012) – With many of the low-cost airlines introducing new ‘booking’ fees during 2012, Airport Parking and Hotels (www.aph.com) has updated their extra charges research to help travellers plan ahead and keep travel costs to a minimum. The research is available in the Know Before You Go section of the website at www.aph.com/lowcostextracharges.

The research compares the extra charges imposed by budget airlines flying from UK airports, including checking-in fees, excess baggage fees, credit card charges, seat reservation charges and costs for cancelling or making changes to the flight.

With regards to checking-in, most airlines were found to offer free online check-in apart from Jet2.com which charges £1.00 per flight and Ryanair, which charges £6.00 per person, per one way flight. If checking-in at the airport or through a call-centre, then the cost was found to vary with Jet2.com charging a fee of £6.00 per flight, BMI Baby charging £11.00 per person, per flight and Ryanair charging £12.00 per person, per flight. Passengers flying with Ryanair should be careful when checking-in online, however, as if customers forget to bring their printed boarding pass, then Ryanair will issue a ‘boarding pass reissue penalty’ fee of £40 per person, per one way flight.

Most airlines were also found to include an ‘admin fee’ with easy Jet replacing its booking fee earlier this year, with a £9.00 administration fee for every booking. BMI Baby, however, charges £8.00 per passenger for online bookings and £11.00 at the airport or through a call centre. Ryanair do not charge anything for online bookings but £20.00 per passenger, per one way flight when booked at the airport or through a call centre, adding £40.00 to each booking.

Costs for checked-in baggage were also found to vary greatly, with Ryanair announcing an increase in their fees during 2012. During the peak periods of June, July, August, September and Christmas in 2012, the airline will increase its checked-in baggage fee from £20 to £25 per bag for all online bookings. Customers checking-in two bags of 15kg from June to September will be charged £50 per bag.

Some of the airlines have also now introduced a fee for reserving seats with Jet2.com charging from £2.49 per flight, Ryanair charging £10.00 one way and BMI Baby £11.00 per person, per one way flight when paid for at the airport or through a call centre. Extra legroom seats are also now available, ranging from £3 to £25 depending on which seat is chosen.
