We also met four Maltese couples who we used to go out with… I still do to this day” she says. “Malta has changed a lot, even the Suncrest Hotel has changed, it is now called Seashells Resort at Suncrest,” she says “ and it is amazing how much has improved,” she recalls, saying that she in Malta and particularly at the Seashells Resort she feels pampered and cared for every time. “I feel at home,” she smiles.

A survey released this week by cheap holidays specialist, lowcostholidays.com and Dixons Travel, reveals the growing role that electronic gadgets play in everyday life, even when we are away and ‘switching off’ on holiday.
The online travel company which provides Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Spain holidays, found that whilst on holiday, 73% of those questioned consider a mobile phone essential, 46% cannot travel without an MP3 player and 40% won’t leave home without their straighteners or other hair appliances. Internet access is also of importance to holidaymakers with over 59% of respondents claiming they will access the internet whilst away either at an internet cafe or via computers at the hotel.
Keeping up to date with what’s happening back at home is also important for holidaymakers with 87% using their mobile on holiday and over 46% relying on text messages for this purpose. Mobiles are also handy for capturing holiday photos and videos with 40% using their phones to record their best holiday moments.
Facebook and other social networking sights have also become a holiday essential with 43% of respondents uploading their holiday photos on to Facebook to share them with their friends and family.
However in spite of all the technology packed in our suitcases, a good book and relaxation lead the way in what holidaymakers enjoy the most and how they want to unwind on holiday. With the fact that a holiday is never long enough being cited by 22% of respondents as the most annoying part of a holiday.

Babies & Toddlers (pre-school):
They often don’t need too much, as long as you have their favourite teddy and blanket to hand so try these in your hand luggage:
• Pack your child’s favourite fruit, snacks and sandwiches cut into fun shapes
• Pack a few favourite toys and comforters
• Pack child neck supports, a blanket and pyjamas
• Babies are often happy to play with the simplest things such as cups and laminated safety cards on aeroplanes, so there is no need to lug a huge bag of toys on holiday
• Play peek-a-boo with small children
Younger Children (aged 5-11):
They need things to stimulate their inquisitive minds as they bore easily, so a good selection of activities should include:
• Provide each child with a bag of their own toys and a few new ones for a surprise treat
• Compile a ‘fun book’ with word searches, dot-to-dot games, noughts and crosses tables, colouring pages, holiday trivia and a fun map of the holiday destination
• Make sure you know how to play guessing games – I-Spy, Who am I?, Car Bingo, 20 Questions, and guess the colour of Mr Men
• Audio Story Books – download stories onto an iPod or buy some audio story books to play in the car
Teenagers (11 upwards):
They are less dependent on adult supervision and can largely amuse themselves, with a few well placed props:
• Pack magnetic board games such as GoSpy, Scrabble, Monopoly and Cluedo
• Make sure you’ve packed their favourite food and drink (but you’ll need to replenish the latter after Airport Security) so there’s no excuse for those teenage tantrums
• Make sure they take a good selection of reading material and encourage them to use waiting or journey time to go over revision notes if they are approaching exam season
• Don’t forget the Nintendo- DS, PSP, i-Pods and hand-held DVDs – make sure they are fully charged for the journey before you set off and don’t forget headphones
