When it comes to travelling, packing can be the most stressful part of the preparation process. Distinguishing essentials from luxuries, catering for every weather event, plus making sure there’s enough room in the case for gifts on the way back! To avoid any extra stress when going on a holiday, business trip or overnight visit, leading suitcases retailer SportsDirect.com set about a mission to find the best suitcase packing method.

After conducting an online survey, the UK’s travellers decided that overall, folding was the most popular packing method with a huge 64% of the vote- allowing holiday goers to organise travel items into neat piles.

Whilst folding maybe the neatest and most organised packing method, some argued that it wasn’t the most space savvy; 29% of those asked favoured to roll their clothes up before packing to make the most of suitcase space and the help avoid the dreaded creases once arriving at their destination.

Other methods were suggested, including packing all items in to vacuum bags to save space and unnecessary ironing. A small percentage of those who took the survey (6.9%) even decided that packing was not a priority and it was much easier to ‘Throw it all in and hope for the best’!

If you are travelling abroad or around the UK this year, don’t forget you can get web exclusive deals on selected suitcases and luggage items, including family sets over at www.sportsdirect.com. You can also join the conversation and let us know how you pack your suitcase on the official Facebook and Twitter pages.

Ajay Shrestha - Domino's National Driver Of The Year

Beating stiff competition from Domino’s stores across the UK and Ireland, Ajay was awarded the title for his hard work and dedication to ensuring that customers receive piping hot pizza and his commitment to helping look after the safety of his fellow delivery drivers.

Ajay has worked for Domino’s on Uxbridge Road for almost two years. His positive attitude, excellent safety record and sheer love for the brand make him a joy to have around. His franchisee describes
him as polite, enthusiastic, honest and reliable. He is always ready to help new drivers and is a big fan of Domino’s wobble boarding. With 2,500 safe delivering hours under his belt and customers talking
of his courteous and helpful manner it is no wonder he is this year’s winner.

Ajay Shrestha, Domino’s Delivery Driver of the Year, said: “I am delighted to win this award. Delivering pizza in all weathers and driving conditions can be a challenge but the smile you get from a customer when you knock on their door makes it all worthwhile. I thoroughly enjoy my job and to be crowned Delivery Driver of the Year is a fantastic achievement.”

Sarmah Shakarchi, franchisee for the Shepherds Bush store said: “We are all very proud of Ajay. It is a tough competition, so for him to win makes us all very happy. He is a real asset to our team and is always professional, providing first class customer service. He really deserves this award.”

Domino’s Pizza’s annual awards recognise the franchisees and in-store teams from the company’s 732 stores in the UK, Ireland and Germany.

Confused.com has revealed the results of a new poll which suggests motorists need a fuel injection of mannersConfused.com. The majority of UK drivers consider themselves to be courteous drivers (92%) but think that almost 1 in 3 (31%) of other motorists are in the slow lane when it comes to courtesy in the car.

If motorists could stop other drivers doing one thing while driving it would be using mobile phones at the wheel (27%), tailgating (23%) and showing aggressive behavior (22%). Drivers would also like to see more road users indicating at junctions (35%); less litter thrown out of car windows (17%) and more people letting drivers out at junctions (11%).

London and the North West are home to the rudest drivers (by their own admission), and young drivers, older drivers, people in white vans and in four wheel drives are UK motorists’ biggest bugbears on the road according to the UK poll of 2,000 motorists*.

The poll of 2000 drivers in the UK was carried out by Onepoll on behalf of Confused.com and all figures have been rounded up to the nearest 1%.

Stena Line, the largest ferry company on the Irish Sea, has signed a sponsorship deal with another giant, the Belfast Giants, in a two year title sponsorship deal. The Stena Line Belfast Giants will take to the ice in August for a special pre-season Hockey Fest Weekend at the Odyssey on 27th and 28th against the Nottingham Panthers and will play their first competitive home game at the Odyssey against the Sheffield Steelers on 3rd September.

Stena Line’s area director, Michael McGrath, said: “The Belfast Giants are much more than an ice hockey team. They are an outstanding example of how a professional sports organisation can mesh with the community. Winning trophies is always the measure of sports teams but it doesn’t show their contribution to their community. The Stena Line Belfast Giants provide excellent family entertainment; work with schools and youth organisations across Northern Ireland and through the Giants Foundation they are dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. Stena Line is proud to be associated with them through this title sponsorship.”

It’s quite fitting that Stena Line is teaming up with the Stena Line Belfast Giants at this time as we prepare to introduce two of the largest ferries ever to sail between Northern Ireland and Scotland when we open our new route and port in Cairnryan in November 2011. The two Superfast vessels will be another two giants to add to the Stena Line team.

Todd Kelman, General Manager of the Stena Line Belfast Giants, added: “We are delighted to be onboard with Stena Line as our title sponsors for the next two years. Stena Line have been great supporters of the Belfast Giants’ community programmes over the years and their commitment and support will enable us to go out and build a winning team for Belfast. Stena Line has always believed in what we are trying to do for Northern Ireland and they are an organisation that we are very proud to be associated with. There are a lot of synergies between both teams and we are looking forward to working together and see if we can sail away with this year’s title.”

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK is boosting its corporate sales department to enhance the service it can provide to its customers.

To enrich the service it provides to fleets, the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ team has responded to customer research by creating a new Business Centre support team who will be able to provide fleet managers with the best professional service and advice quickly and efficiently.

The new fleet team at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles includes five area managers, three corporate managers and four Business Centre managers covering England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, plus four Business Centre executives.

In addition, to improve the awareness and supply of its range of off-the-shelf ‘Engineered to go’ conversions range of tipper, dropside and Luton bodies and ‘Engineered for you’ specialist conversions, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has created a dedicated conversions team offering specialist engineering support and supplier relationship management.

‘Our vision for the fleet team is to offer industry leading knowledge and solutions that give a direct benefit to our customers through trust, integrity, knowledge and professionalism,’ said Alastair Hemmings, National Fleet Manager, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK, who leads the fleet team of 15 people with a total of over 80 years’ experience.

‘From legislation to emissions, and of course in-depth vehicle knowledge, every member of the fleet team will be on hand to offer advice and expertise where it is needed,’ he continued.

These developments come during an exciting period for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles following the launch of the new Caddy and Transporter last year and the new Amarok pick-up this year. In addition, it has just hosted an exclusive event for fleet customers for the new Crafter ahead of the official launch on 1 August.

Tesco Compare is offering 500 Clubcard points to all Clubcard holders who buy a car or home insurance policy through www.tescocompare.com.

The comparison website searches and compares over 65 leading brands of car insurance and over 25 of home insurance to help customers choose the right deal.

It is the only comparison site to offer its customers loyalty points, giving them that little bit extra when buying a car or home policy through Tesco Compare.

Commercial Director, Vikki Macleod, said: “Our Clubcard offer is our way of saying thank you to Clubcard customers. In the current economic climate it has never been more important for customers to search for competitive car or home insurance quotes. With this offer there is now the chance to collect 500 points as a welcome bonus.”

How does it work?

The offer couldn’t be simpler. Customers visit the Tesco Compare website, enter their Clubcard number when getting a car or home insurance quote, and the 500 points will then be awarded after the policy is purchased.

Vikki Macleod added: “Our intention is for Tesco Compare to be the comparison site of choice for Tesco customers. We believe the offer is a great way for people to pick up a little something extra when shopping around for a car or home insurance deal.”

Alongside launching the offer, Tesco Compare is focused on helping customers to search for deals so they could save money. In addition to comparing by price, customers can also compare car and home insurance quotes by features and benefits according to what is most important to them.

Tesco Compare’s services don’t stop there: It can also introduce people to comparison services for products including Money, Utilities and Telecoms, and a wider range of insurance products.

If you’re sending a package that needs to be there as soon as possible, you want to get in touch with your nearest sameday couriers. These services collect and deliver goods that need to be at their destinations as soon as possible. However, there are people who don’t know how these services work or the best way to send a package with sameday couriers.

The sameday courier service is one of the most essential industries in the United Kingdom, with so many people relying on couriers to deliver their items as soon as fast as they can. Sameday couriers are also reliant on the customers – at both ends of the delivery – to make the process run smoothly. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case, as either the recipient and/or the customer don’t recognise the difference between Sameday Couriers and standard courier services. Sameday couriers get the item from the collection point to the drop-off point that day. But how do you choose your sameday couriers?

At CRV Sameday, we’ve compiled our top five tips for getting the right sameday courier service.
One of the biggest mistakes that customers make is actually quite a simple one. Such a large number of customers call a sameday courier service, wanting to ship a package that doesn’t actually need to be there on that same day. If the item doesn’t have to be at the destination as a matter of life or death then another service might be better, allowing other customers to take advantage of our sameday courier service.

Another major mistake, is assuming that because the item isn’t going very far, or isn’t very expensive, it doesn’t need insuring. Often, accidents happen shortly after setting off on a journey because you’re either not concentrating fully, or accidents involving the packages happen early because they haven’t been secured in the car or van. If your item is so important to someone that it needs to be with them by the end of the day, it is essential that you get it insured. This isn’t a suggestion, it’s a fact.

Also, when you ring up to book your item in with a sameday courier service, be sure to specify whether or not it can be loaded in with other items. If you fail to do so, you could find that your expensive antique vase is in with some stone garden furniture, and there’s only going to be one winner in that battle in the back of the van if something should go wrong. You could wrap your item up in as much packaging as you like, but there is bound to be one weak or overlooked point that if caught just on the wrong angle, causes a disaster. In summary, if your fragile package shouldn’t be sharing van space with solid items, you probably shouldn’t have it co-loaded.

When you make your booking, have a good idea of the weight of the package you are sending. The right vehicle for the delivery of your item depends partly on the weight of the package. Couriers are dispatched according to the size and weight of the package in proportion to their car or van so knowing the weight is a huge advantage.

The delivery of goods can often be expensive so be prepared to pay more for the heavier items, and even more so when using a sameday courier service. The delivery charge includes the cost of fuel, driver wages and the insurance of the vehicle and the goods.
