Keep Your Head and Feet in the Game with SportsDirect.com

Score! According to FIFA there are 265 million people who play the world’s number one sport. So you have the physical ability and ball sense to play Football, but do you have the game intelligence? Is your head mightier than the football boots at your feet?

Originally considered to be an impossible component to measure, a new study conducted has claimed that game intelligence isn’t a mind field but can in fact be measured. Game intelligence is the
ability to “read” the play such as being in the right place at the right time. The scientists at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden have assigned game intelligence to executive functions which includes mental processes such as planning and problem solving. The study that will be published in PLoS ONE, an online scientific journal, found that 57 elite footballers performed better in the executive function tests than the general population. The academics also found that the higher ranked footballers performed better in the executive function tests. The scientists are now hoping to study whether the executive functions can be improved by training. Tackle your Football with our football boots.

Jog along to a marathon! With over 500 marathons in the world, you can choose where you want to run in our running shoes from the metropolitan Virgin London Marathon to the Big Five Marathon in the South African savannah.

After finishing the New York marathon in 2006, seven time Tour De France champion cyclist Lance Armstrong described it as “the hardest physical thing” he had ever done. According to Runners World, approximately forty percent of marathon entrants in 2011 were first timer marathoners. First time runners need to do long-term planning, stick to a rigorous training schedule and eat a balanced diet for at least four months before a marathon. Based on 23 years worth of data, Peak Performance, an information website for athletes and coaches, reported one in six runners came in to contact with St John’s ambulance, one in 800 visit a hospital accident and emergency department and one in 10,000 were admitted to hospital. In 2006, reality television celebrity Jade Goody was hospitalised while attempting the London marathon without adequate training. Leave your footprint in your marathon by training properly with our running shoes.
