Get your hands on gadget insurance!

March 08, 2012

Tesco Compare now offers consumers gadget insurance as the comparison site joins forces with providers, Protectyourbubble.com and Gadget Cover.

The move marks Tesco Compare’s continual drive to add new partners and services that will give consumers greater choice when looking for deals on insurance, money and utilities products. Protectyourbubble.com and Gadget Cover have been providing insurance for many years, offering cover for devices such as iPhones, sat navs, video cameras, iPads, games consoles and Ipods in the event of theft, loss or damage.

Typical types of insurance available from the providers include cover for multiple gadgets, and usage abroad – which can be individually-tailored.

Vikki Macleod, Tesco Compare’s Commercial Director, said: “We are pleased to be working with both providers. Alongside giving a broader selection of services, we are introducing people to more bespoke forms of insurance. Gadgets are expensive to replace and mean a lot to people. That’s why consumers can search for a gadget insurance deal.”

People are carrying around more gadgets than ever before increasing the risk of theft, loss and breakage. Gadgets, particularly mobile phones, are vital to people and an integral part of their life. Whether the gadget is a laptop, smart phone or camera, many people have at least one gadget they rely on considerably.  Insurance can ease the financial burden if someone’s beloved gadget is lost, stolen or accidentally damaged.

Vikki Macleod summed up: “Teaming up with both providers underlines our commitment to expanding our offering alongside our existing services. Introducing people to gadget insurance demonstrates our dedication to evolving with the needs of the modern customer.”

npower teams up with Kevin Keegan for What’s Your Goal

npower has announced that Kevin Keegan will be as one of eleven football experts who will showcase the vast and varied careers found in our national sport, creating a team of teenagers who will get the chance to do their dream job for a day.

Participants don’t have to play football to become a key player in the game and npower’s What’s Your Goal is focused on helping teens kick off a fantastic career by allowing them to get their hands dirty and muck in with professionals.

The chosen eleven will be thrown in at the deep end: one budding football pundit will sit alongside Kevin Keegan at a high profile npower Football League match, another will prove they’ve got the gift of the gab while managing a group of professional players with Neil Warnock at QPR, while one particularly confident winner will have to stick by their decisions as they work alongside Sasa Ihringova, The Football League’s most senior female referee.

In addition to the these three, the other mentors are a SKY Sports TV producer and TV presenter, a sports photographer, a sports journalist from First News, the sports therapist at Swindon Town, the business manager from Ipswich Town, the acadamy coach at Derby County and Crystal Palace’s kit manager.

Kevin Keegan said: “What’s Your Goal is a one-of-a-kind programme that gives students a foot in the door to try their hand at incredible jobs they’ve never considered before, inspiring thousands of others to believe in their own capabilities and futures.

“We’re looking for an extra special set of skills, ones that students can’t always get across in school exams and tests; the strength of character to be a referee; the assertiveness of a coach who needs to keep their team in check when the pressure is on and the quick but caring quality of a team’s sports therapist.

“With one in five young people not able to find work in the UK, npower’s What’s Your Goal is a great way of using young people’s love of football to inspire their future goals, helping students to start thinking differently about their careers.”

Clare McDougall, npower’s head of education and community, added: “What an opportunity for eager and hungry youngsters to get a foot up the football ladder: it’s a fantastic way to get teenagers to really think, ‘what is my goal?’.

“What’s Your Goal is a fantastic opportunity to show how ambitious and talented our teenagers are and how bright their futures could be.”

To enter, students are asked to fill out a job application, downloadable at www.npower.com/whatsyourgoal.
